Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer, launched its Baleno-based coupe SUV, Fronx, in the Indian market with a base price of Rs 7.45 lakh, ex-showroom. Within a month of launch, Suzuki Fronx received bookings for more than 8,000 units, while the demand for this is still soaring, especially for high-end variants offered with turbocharged petrol engines.
The waiting period for Suzuki Fronx currently ranges from six weeks to ten months, depending upon the variant the customer selects. The demand for high-spec turbocharged petrol engine variants is much higher than for base and mid-spec variants. Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Fronx SUV in five variants: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Alpha, and Zeta. In contrast, there are two powertrains and three transmission options.
Discussing the base variants of Maruti Fronx, Sigma and Delta+, get a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol powertrain. Currently, these models have a waiting period of six to eight weeks. The Delta variant of Suzuki Fronx has a waiting period of up to 10 weeks. The Zeta and Alpha variants of Fronx with 1.0-liter turbo booster jet engines have a waiting period from six weeks to eight weeks, while the Delta+ variant with the same powertrain currently has a waiting period of around ten months.
Almost all variants with automatic transmission options have similar waiting periods except the Delta variant. The top-spec variant with a turbocharged engine and six-speed torque converter transmission has a waiting period of around ten weeks.
Suzuki Fronx gets a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that can churn out 89 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque and comes mated with a five-speed manual and automatic transmission option. The company has also offered a 1.0-liter boosterjet turbo petrol engine capable of producing 99 bhp and 147 Nm torque, coupled with a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission system. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki has claimed that the Fronx SUV can offer up to 22.89 kmpl of fuel mileage.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx is currently available in nine color options, including Grandeur Grey, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, Opulent Red with Bluish Black roof, Earthen Brown with Bluish Black roof, and Splendid Silver with Bluish Black roof.
Further, Suzuki Fronx comes with several features such as a 360-degree video camera, wireless smartphone charger, 9-inch HD Smart Play Pro Plus infotainment system, and Head-up Display with turn-by-turn navigation. The Coupe SUV also packs Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support and a premium sound system from Arkamys.
Suzuki has offered connected car technology for better safety, location, and trips. Additionally, there are six airbags, a 3-point ELR seat belt, hill assist, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages for safety features.
The ex-showroom price for the base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV starts from Rs 7.46 lakh, while the top-spec models are priced at around Rs 13.13 lakh.
