The 2024 Maruti Swift debuts in Japan with an elegant design, sporty Cool Yellow Rev concept, and enhanced safety features.
Key Highlights
The eagerly awaited 2024 Maruti Swift has made its debut in Japan, unveiling a refreshed design, advanced technology, and a new Z Series engine for enhanced performance. The fourth-generation Swift, already on sale in its home market, Japan, is set to make its way to India later this year. Adding to the excitement, Suzuki has introduced a new Cool Yellow Rev concept version of the new-gen Swift at the Tokyo Auto Salon, enhancing the hatchback's appeal and sporty persona.
Last December, images of the Cool Yellow Rev concept sparked curiosity among the enthusiasts. Now, Suzuki has fully revealed this sportier variant at the Tokyo Auto Salon. The Cool Yellow Rev concept stands out with its vibrant Cool Yellow Metallic exterior, complemented by sporty decals and bold 'SWIFT' lettering. Blacked-out front grille and alloy wheels, along with a grey roof, contribute to its dynamic and eye-catching appearance.
The new Swift in Japan boasts nine color options, including the newly introduced Frontier Blue Pearl Metallic and Cool Yellow Metallic. The Cool Yellow Rev concept, in particular, showcases cosmetic touch-ups to lighting elements, front bumper, and new alloy wheels. These design changes not only enhance the hatch's aesthetic appeal but also contribute to a 4.6% reduction in air resistance.
Apart from the aesthetic upgrades, Suzuki has also prioritized safety in the new-gen Swift. The usage of high-tensile steel plates and reinforced components increases the levels of safety while also improving the ride comfort and handling. Noise and vibrations have been minimized through the strategic application of damping adhesive to the body joints and additional baffle materials.
Powering the fourth-gen Swift is the new 1.2-litre Z Series, 3-cylinder petrol engine. Available in both standard and 12V mild-hybrid variants, the engine generates 83 PS and 108 Nm of torque. Transmission choices in Japan include a 5-speed manual and CVT, with an option for all-wheel drive. However, it is unlikely that the CVT and AWD options will be available in India due to market preferences.
The new-gen Maruti Swift is expected to make its debut in India around the festive season. While retaining its position in the price-sensitive segment, the hatchback is set to witness an increase in prices with the introduction of new features. The current model starts at Rs 5.99 lakh, and with the upgraded features, it will continue to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
