Mercedes-Benz is set to debut its seventh generation Mercedes AMG SL55 Roadster in the Indian market. This two-door car will be launched on June 22, priced at Rs 1.5 crore.
Mercedes-Benz is ready to debut the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG on June 22. Like its predecessors, this sports car will be brought to India as CBU. SL 55 AMG is the seventh-generation two-seater luxury car from Mercedes-Benz. Further, the expected ex-showroom price for this Mercedes car can commence from Rs 1.5 crore and will be offered in only the AMG guise option.
In India, this car was sold last time in 2012 when it was available in the fifth generation. The sixth generation didn't register any presence in the Indian market. However, this new generation will be imported and sold in the domestic market.
The new SL is available in a longer bonnet with a raked windshield than its predecessors. This two-door sports car packs a Panamericana grille with large air dams. There are aggressive but sleek headlamps with the availability of LED tech. The SL55 Roadster's interior has an 11.9-inch vertically fitted touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Mercedes has offered turbine-style AC vents, HUD display, carbon fiber bits, electrically adjustable comfortable seats, twin-spoke AMG steering wheels, and MBUX OS. Further, the carmaker has provided a triple-layer fabric roof that reduces up to 21 kg of weight compared to the metallic roof provided in previous models. Mercedes also claims the car takes only 15 seconds to fold the roof completely.
The new SL55 gets a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing 478 hp of power output and 700 Nm of peak torque. Further, the engine system comes mated with the nine-speed automatic gearbox to power up all wheels through a 4Matic plus system. New Mercedes-AMG SL55 can sprint 0-100 kmph in about 3.9 seconds with a maximum speed of 295 kmph.
The car has AMG active ride control suspension, active anti-roll stabilization, and rear axle steering to deliver a smooth and efficient ride. Moreover, this carmaker has offered customers to choose AMG ceramic high-performance brake systems in the top variants.
The Mercedes-AMG SL55 car is anticipated to be priced from Rs 1.5 crore, ex-showroom. The car has no direct competitor in body design but may compete with Audi S5 Sportback and BMW M340i.
