Discover the futuristic Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven concept, unveiled at NMACC Mumbai. A blend of iconic design and advanced technology, this debut highlights the future of automotive innovation in India.
Mercedes-Benz India has pulled back the curtain on its revolutionary Vision One-Eleven concept car at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. The vehicle pays homage to the legendary C111 experimental prototype from the late 1960s and 1970s, a groundbreaking model that cemented its place in automotive history as a testbed for cutting-edge technology. Only 16 units of the original C111 were ever produced, making it one of the rarest creations from the German automaker.
Developed at the Mercedes-Benz International Design Centre in Carlsbad, California, the Vision One-Eleven blends nostalgic cues with forward-thinking innovation. Its vibrant metallic orange exterior mirrors the striking paintwork of the C111, while its aerodynamic silhouette is crafted with sleek, minimalist lines. This design philosophy extends to its front and rear, where oval-shaped display panels integrated with pixel optics function as both lighting elements and customizable screens capable of projecting messages or patterns.
Adding to its futuristic appeal is an all-glass roof that seamlessly doubles as the vehicle’s roof and windows. The car’s iconic gullwing doors, reminiscent of the original C111, further emphasize the harmonious blend of heritage and modernity.
The interior of the Vision One-Eleven is a bold leap into the future, maintaining a minimalist yet dynamic design language. Chrome-finished bucket seats and a race-inspired steering wheel give the cabin a motorsport aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the brand’s AMG racing heritage. The pixel-display motif from the exterior is carried into the interior, dominating the dashboard to create a cohesive, tech-forward ambiance.
Under the hood, the Vision One-Eleven is powered by two cutting-edge axial-flux electric motors. This advanced technology is a step forward from conventional radial-flux motors, offering a more compact and lightweight design that is perfectly suited for electric vehicles. While Mercedes-Benz has withheld exact performance specifications, the automaker promises that these motors are capable of delivering exceptional power and torque, potentially redefining electric propulsion in the luxury segment.
The Vision One-Eleven marks the fifth concept car Mercedes-Benz has brought to India, following previous showcases such as the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 coupe, AMG GT6, Electric G-Class, and Project Maybach. With each unveiling, the brand reinforces its commitment to pushing the boundaries of design, technology, and sustainability in the automotive industry.
The Vision One-Eleven is more than just a tribute to the C111; it is a testament to Mercedes-Benz’s vision for the future of electric mobility and avant-garde design. As concept cars often serve as a preview of what’s to come, enthusiasts and industry insiders alike will be watching closely to see how the Vision One-Eleven influences Mercedes-Benz’s production models in the years ahead.
