Before it arrives in worldwide showrooms in April, the electric 2023 Mini Cooper SE Convertible, a limited-edition model to be offered only in European markets, has been introduced.
The Cooper SE Convertible, the first-ever production all-electric convertible model from British automaker Mini, has been launched. It is positioned as a type of stopgap until the next generation of all-electric Minis is revealed.
In addition to the internal combustion engine model, the new convertible EV will only be produced in 999 units at the company's manufacturing site in the Netherlands.
Estimated Launch: April, 2023
Price: Rs. 51.50 Lakh
Available in two exterior colours:
Enigmatic Black and White Silver, with Resolute Bronze for the door handles, side scuttles, and surrounds of the front and rear lights.
The door sill trims and side scuttles have 1/999 lettering to underline the car's limited supply and zero emissions, while the 17" cast alloy wheels in the Electric Power, Spoke two-tone design are constructed entirely of secondary aluminium.
The Mini Cooper SE Convertible's interior has a sports multifunction steering wheel upholstered in Nappa leather, heated seats, adjustable thigh support, and yellow details that draw attention to the car's electric drivetrain, such as the start-stop toggle switch.
For those tedious and congested travels, there is also a heads-up display, a linked entertainment system, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capabilities.
A single front-mounted electric motor producing 135 kilowatts (184 horsepower) and sourced from the BMW Group's electric mobility centres in Dingolfing and Landshut powers the vehicle.
With it, the convertible can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 7.1 seconds, and the WLTP test cycle estimates the maximum range at 125 miles (201 km).
According to Mini, all dimensions—including the rear trunk's 160 litres—are the same as those of the internal combustion model. The convertible roof can be opened or closed at up to 18.6 mph (30 km/h), and there is also an optional intermediate sliding roof position.
The Mini Cooper SE Convertible, which we had the opportunity to experience as a one-off prototype back in 2022, will be made available in Europe starting in April 2023 and will have a production cap of just 999 units.
Although it won't be sold here, there are some good news for all of you EV enthusiasts out there: Mini is already working on the next generation of its electric cars, which will probably come to the US from China.
