The first deliveries to the customers who booked SUV is scheduled to be commenced next month. This third-gen Range rover Sport was open for booking for 6 months and it has received orders from all over India orders are still growing gradually at a regular rate. This CBU-Imported SUV is perched in Mumbai, and here is our first look.
As compared to the flagship Range Rover which is equipped with two wheelbase lengths, three engine options, three seating arrangements, and five trim levels for 37 variant combinations, this new Range Rover Sport receives only five variants as of now.
There are only two engines on offer – diesel and petrol 3.0-liter mild-hybrid straight-six units, and four trim levels – SE, HSE, first edition and Autobiography. The diesel produces 350 hp and 700 nm while The P400 petrol makes 400hp and 550Nm and both are associated to 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearboxes, with 4WD and air suspension as standard. Rover also adheres will all the off-road hardware with off-road traction control, All Terrain Progress Control on and off-road drive modes, in addition to 281 mm of ground clearance and 900mm of water-wading ability.
| D350 Dynamic SE | - | Rs 1.64 crore ||:------------------: |:-: |:-------------: || P400 Dynamic SE | - | Rs 1.68 crore || D350 Dynamic SE | - | Rs 1.71 crore || D350 Autobiography | - | Rs 1.81 crore || D350 First Edition | - | Rs 1.84 crore |
With the option to be ordered in the first year of production, the petrol comes in HSE only but the diesel engine is available in all trim levels. The lower S variant is being offered at the global level however, Land Rover offered in India is too basic for the price offered by Indian Customers. The interesting part is that one can go for most of the features individually at a per-item price, to adhere it to the exact specifications one needs without opting for the higher trim.
Prices of all New Range Rover Sport fall between Rs 1.64 crore to Rs 1.84 crore (ex-showroom India). If we look at the prices for the flagship Range Rover,it goes from Rs 2.39 crore to Rs 4.17 crore, with the locally assembled Range Rover Velar, seated below the New Range Rover Sport, priced for Rs 89.41 lakh. For Land Rover’s other large, the CBU-imported SUVs, the Defender costs from Rs 91.80 lakh to Rs 2.29 crore, and the Discovery ranges from Rs 93.90 lakh to Rs 1.32 crore
There is a huge price overlap that can be seen in the Land Rover large SUV model range. One can mistake the previous Range Rover sport for the similar-appearing Range Rover, but this time case is different. Though a similar 2,997 mm standard wheelbase is attached to the new Range Rover, it has way more distinguishing features when it comes to styling.
The front bumper shows sporty air intakes and the headlamps and grille are slimmer than the Sport model aforementioned. The roofline slides towards the rear and the new Range Rover’s nose along with the front and rear windscreens is not as bolt-upright as it was in the Sport version.
It is given more of a minimalist look, door handles fit together with bodywork and the window line joins doors in a way that still shows no visibility. The model that is going to be launched in India is standard and has bronze accents. Wheel sizes range from 21 to 23 inches making it sporty and sturdy.
In place of the new hidden vertical lamps in the big Range Rover in Range Rover, the rear has horizontal. Slim wraparound tail lamps. One does not get ‘Event Suite picnic seating’ which is exclusively attached to the flagship but one can expect a full-size spare wheel in this model.
The Interior is highly distinguished from the Range Rover, and its raked-back dashboard is cognate to the Velar. The Centre console is at an angle, the seats are lower and the steering wheel is of a three-spoke unit to make it look sportier. It has a tall driving position.
From the latest Pivi Pro infotainment software, which is displayed on a 13.1-inch touchscreen to an all-new digital dial screen, It has undergone tech upgrades to the cabin as well. It has intuitive context-sensitive HVAC controls return, along with a push to control fan speed, and some other physical controls pull to handle seat ventilation, but secondary operations like, for instance, seat massage and lumbar support, are within the touchscreen.
The most distinctive feature is the quality jump of the new Range Rover that has been provided to this SUV too, which seems to be a huge upgradation from the previous Sport. Interior panels and trim pieces have a better built and finished, and the materials have an expensive outlook. Particularly, The New dark chrome and forged carbon trim pieces are unique to the sport and they are less skewed toward classic luxury.
One can go for semi-aniline leather upholstery, but one can also switch it out for a leather-free interior that is adhered to Kvadrat Ultra fabric. The audio system has 19 speakers for the 800W Meridian system and is hidden under a layer of high-quality fabric. A huge difference between the Range Rover and Sport can be detected in the rear seat, as the seats here aren’t opulent.
With the 37-degree powered recline, it has a fine and standard bench seat with comfortable cushioning. It not only offers big legroom it also has a 74 mm longer wheelbase. Rear window blinds are offered but they are not even powered and are optional which seems to be a downside for this price.
The New Rover sport provides the experience of luxury to the customers of the SUV line-up. It is a consolidated variant and has a clearer identity than that in previous generations.
The flagship Range Rover has moved up the luxury ranks, and within its price, competing with the rivals Bentley Bentayga.
With all sportier specifications, the New Range Rover is getting out of the “Lite” perception. It is offering an appealing experience for a sensible price. Customers are getting a luxury SUV that bundles in a whole lot of good packages at a considerable amount. It is expected that the Land rover model series for India is going to fill the overlap. Whether This third-generation model is expected to deliver justice to the Sport version of it or not will be decided after its deliveries. For further reviews keep visiting the website.
