Tata has announced the revised Tigor EV, with prices ranging from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 13.75 lakh. The upgrade includes new features, a greater range, and the launch of two new versions.
Highlights
► Tata Tigor EV gets new and updated variants.
► Tata Tigor EV Range has been increased to 315km, 9 km longer than the previous model.
► Tata Tigor EV also gets a price update.
The most significant change to the Tigor is its improved range of 315km, which is 9km longer than the previous model. Tata has also given the Tigor additional functions that were previously only accessible on the Nexon EV Max and Nexon EV Prime. The multi-mode regen feature with automated brake lamp activation, which changes the brake lights during regeneration, is the most crucial of these add-ons.
The Tigor EV, like the Nexon EV Prime and Max, has four levels of regen braking, with Level 0 cutting altogether regeneration and Level 3 being the strongest. This aids in charging the batteries while driving, especially in stop-and-go traffic or on downhills, hence extending effective driving range. Cruise control, an indirect tyre pressure monitoring system through the smartphone app, and smartwatch-integrated connection features are among the other new features on the Tigor EV.
Previously, Tata Motors provided these additional software-based services for free to Nexon EV owners. Tata is doing the same for current Tigor EV owners.
The Tigor EV XT replaces the Tigor EV XM and adds amenities such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen and steering-mounted controls. The XT model costs Rs 12.99 lakh. The Tigor EV XZ+ now comes with cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and auto headlamps, and it costs Rs 13.49 lakh. Tata has also introduced a new top-of-the-line XZ+ Lux variant with a contrast black roof, leatherette upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. This variant costs Rs 13.75 lakh.
The new Tigor EV has the same engine that debuted last year. It features Tata's sophisticated Ziptron high-voltage design, which employs a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with 75hp and 170Nm of torque. This enables the Tigor EV to accelerate from 0 to 60 kph in 5.7 seconds (claimed).
The battery pack in the Tigor EV is a 26kWh lithium-ion unit that, like the electric motor, has been rated to IP67 water and dust resistance standards. The Tigor EV has fast charging capabilities and can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 60 minutes. Tata also offers an 8-year/160,000-kilometer warranty on the battery and motor.
