While Renault has been in fame with the recent unveiling of the all-new Duster, its sister brand, Nissan, is not far behind it either. In a recent presentation, Nissan has announced its plans for introducing four new models in the Indian market, accompanied by a facelift for the popular Magnite SUV.
Magnite Facelift Launch Expected in 2024
The Magnite, Nissan's sole model in India for some time, is set to undergo a facelift that’s scheduled for the 2024 launch. Not only does the facelift aims to refresh the Magnite's appearance, but it also marks the introduction of a left-hand drive variant, expanding the SUV's export potential to new markets.
All-New Creta Rival Based on Duster Platform Expected in 2025
The highlight of Nissan's future line-up is the all-new midsize SUV that’s set to rival the Creta, and based on the recently revealed Duster. Sharing the platforms, interior components, and body panels with the Duster, this SUV is expected to roll out of Chennai in 2025, targeting both the domestic and international markets.
New Seven-Seat SUV to Compete with Alcazar and Safari
In addition to the Creta rival, Nissan also plans to launch a larger seven-seater SUV based on the yet-to-be-revealed Bigster SUV. Positioned as a competitor to models like the Alcazar and Safari, this three-row SUV is set to join the lineup after the launch of the Creta rival.
Three-Row MPV Based on the Triber Platform
Nissan is set to introduce a three-row compact MPV that shares its platform with the popular Triber. Positioned just slightly below the Magnite, this unnamed MPV aims to serve mass-market customers, offering a cost-effective alternative to models like the Ertiga and Carens. Production will take place alongside its Renault counterpart in Chennai.
All-New Entry-Level EV
Nissan, alongside Renault, is also actively developing an entry-level hatchback based on the CMF-AEV platform. Positioned as a global product, India is slated to receive its version of this electric hatchback. Both Renault and Nissan are expecting to offer their distinct derivatives of this innovative EV.
X-Trail Testing in India
While details still remain unclear, Nissan is currently testing the latest-generation X-Trail SUV in India. The possibility of its arrival as a completely built unit (CBU) exists, but the market entry strategy is yet to be defined.
