SIAM's June 2024 report shows 3.0% growth in passenger vehicles and 21.3% in two-wheelers, highlighting scooter’s 40.1% increase.
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released its sales report for June 2024, along with Q1 FY2025. According to the SIAM report, the passenger vehicle segment recorded an uptick of 3.0% selling 3,37,757 units as compared to 3,27,788 units sold in the same month in the previous year. Commenting on sales data of Q1 for 2024-25, Vinod Aggarwal, President, SIAM said, “All segments viz., Passenger Vehicle, Commercial Vehicle, Three-Wheeler and Two-Wheelers posted growth in Q1 of 2024-25 over the Q1 of last year. While Passenger Vehicles and Commercial Vehicles have witnessed moderate growth, the Two Wheelers and Three Wheelers have posted very handsome growth in double digits. Within Two-Wheelers, Scooters have posted even higher growth based on some green shoots of recovery in entry-level two-wheelers. With positive outlook on monsoon and coming festive season, the Automotive Sector is poised to perform better in the balance part of the year.”

The passenger cars segment witnessed a decline of - 13.7% with sales of 1,00,406 units in June 2024 compared to the 1,16,375 units sold in the same month the previous year. But the Utility vehicles showed a positive growth of 18.2% with the sales of 1,83,056 units in June 2024 compared to the 1,54,821 units sold in the same month of the previous year. The Vans segment also showed a growth of 15.1% with sales of 10,771 units in June 2024 compared to the 9,357 units sold in the same month the previous year.
The Two-wheelers segment witnessed a growth of 21.3% with sales of 16,14,154 units in June 2024 compared to the 13,30,826 units sold in the same month the previous year. The scooters segment also showed a growth of 40.1 % with sales of 5,42,851 units compared to the 3,87,373 units sold in the same month the previous year. The Motorcycle segment also showed a growth of 13.4% with the sales of 10,30,906 units in June 2024 compared to the 9,08,954 units sold in the same month the previous year. The mopeds segment also showed a growth of 17.1% with sales of 40,397 units in June 2024 compared to the 34,499 units sold in the same month previous year.
