The Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II is no more. This news has taken the world by storm. This is a big loss for England, but instead of mourning the departed soul, let us celebrate the Queen by looking at all the classic cars that she had in her possession.
The entire country of England, as well as the entire world, is in mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Instead of mourning the departed soul, let us celebrate the Queen's glorious legacy. And, because we at carbike360 live and breathe cars, here are six of the Queen's most adored vehicles.
But first, here's a fun fact: While the Queen didn't need a driver's license because of her royal status, she did learn to drive during World War II and was also a trained mechanic. She fell in love with cars after that and was frequently seen driving herself.
The Bentley, a world-renowned luxury and glitzy vehicle brand, is like a spirited vehicle for the Queen, who herself was synonymous with luxury, majesty, and glory. The Queen's Bentley Bentayga was the first of its kind at the time, and despite its elegancy and subtly, it is still a bad boy with 600 horsepower and a top speed of 300 kmph.
The Queen's game was spot on when it came to custom-built cars that fit one's personality. The Queen preferred her Range Rover to the Pope's Popemobile. This custom classic, built to the Queen's specifications, was used by the Queen for everyday rides and royal processions. The vehicle featured a half-open top, allowing the Queen to stand and embrace those who adored her.
While there are dozens of RR Phantom IV and Vs in the royal family's garage, the 1955 State Landaulet, with coachwork by Hooper & Co., is the rarest and most special of them all. The vehicle, powered by a 5.7-liter straight-eight engine, was so rare that only 18 of them were produced by Rolls Royce and were specifically reserved for heads of state. This was the Queen's go-to vehicle before it was returned to RR in 2002.
This stunning vehicle, which the Queen fell in love with in 1961, was designed to complement her active lifestyle. The car is still in the royal garage at Sandringham today, adorned with tailor-made modifications such as fishing rod holders built into the roof, a gun rack, a dog guard for her corgis, and custom Imperial Green bodywork.
The Queen received this special State Limousine, based on the Arnage, as a gift from Bentley in 2002 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of her accession to the throne. The limo has a 400bhp 6.75-liter V8 engine and an extended wheelbase for extra legroom and comfort. The car has also been outfitted with a raised roof, seats, and panoramic glasswork so that the Queen's well-wishers can greet her with affection. As a state vehicle, safety is ensured not only by airbags but also by a fully armored and blast-resistant body with Kevlar-reinforced tyres.
This State Coach, one of the most valuable in the world, made its first appearance in 1762. This Coach has only been used for the most formal of occasions, such as coronation ceremonies and other Royal Family events. The next time you see this lavish ride out, it will most likely be to crown a new king.
So there you have it: six precious gems from Queen Elizabeth's magnificent royal collection. Keep an eye on carbike360 NewsDesk for the latest automotive news.
