The all-electric Renault '4EVER Trophy' has arrived at the Paris Motor Show. The off-road concept car foreshadows the upcoming series tiny electric SUV, which the French manufacturer hopes to resuscitate the Renault 4 in 2025.
“R4 is a car that everyone can love, and today we want to rediscover this universal dimension through a modern and electric reinterpretation.” The idea had been gathering momentum in early 2021": Renault said.
From the 1960s until the 1980s, the French manufacturer sold approximately eight million Renault 4s. Because the original was known for its dependability and durability, the study likewise relies on a very substantial appearance. The dramatically flared wheel arches and sills all around are composed of black plastic, giving the car the appearance of utility and off-road use rather than a city car.
However, based on the known driving characteristics, the tiny E-SUV is more likely to be found in urban areas than in huge deserts or steep mountains. There is no all-wheel drive, and the synchronous motor produces 100 kW. Even though Renault does not specify this in the study, the lithium-ion battery, which has an energy content of 42 kWh, is unlikely to offer top range values due to the very poor aerodynamics. However, 42 kWh may provide a more realistic picture for the next manufacturing model (at least in the base).
However, some of the study's proportions are unrealistic: the plastic covers protrude 20 centimetres beyond the actual tyre arch. The 4EVER Trophy is an off-road vehicle with big off-road tyres and an overall height of 1.90 meters. However, because the car is just 4.06 meters long, it is likely that the production model will be an SUV rather than an off-road vehicle. Off-road aspects of the research (such as a compressor for each wheel that can be operated from the interior to alter air pressure while off-road) are also unlikely to make it into series production. For financial concerns, the carbon-fiber roof is likewise unlikely to be accessible in this sector.
The Renault 4EVER Trophy, inspired by a brand icon, is the second Renault electric car to be launched as part of the Renaulution strategic plan, following the Renault 5 Prototype. In addition to the R5 Turbo 3E battery electric show car, the Hippie Caviar Motel electric leisure vehicle study, and the Scenic Vision concept car with combined battery/fuel cell propulsion, Renault will be exhibiting in Paris the R5 Turbo 3E battery electric show car, the Hippie Caviar Motel electric leisure vehicle study, and the Scenic Vision concept car with combined battery/fuel cell propulsion. The electric passenger car form of the new Renault Kangoo, which was unveiled just a few days ago, will also make its trade show debut.
The production version of the Master H2-Tech, which was presented as a near-production prototype a year ago, as well as the already-known prototypes of the Master City Bus H2-Tech and Master Platform Chassis H2-Tech, are on display at the Paris Motor Show by Hyvia, a joint venture between Renault and Plug Power. The Master H2-Tech from the Paris show features the same technical parameters as the prototype: a 33-kWh battery and a 30-kW fuel cell. However, the capacity of the four hydrogen tanks has been increased to 6.4 kilos from six kilograms. The electric motor produces 57 kW.
The van is claimed to have a range of 400 kilometres with only five minutes of refueling time. It had previously planned to enter the market in 2022. In Paris, though, Hyvia states that orders for 2023 are possible. Hyvia, on the other hand, makes no mention of prices.
