In a strategic move to offset the increasing supply, input, and operational costs, Skoda Auto India has officially announced a price hike of up to 2% across its passenger vehicle range. The adjustments are set to be effective from January 1, 2024 and will impact popular models like the Slavia sedan, Kushaq SUV, and Kodiaq SUV, signaling a trend that’s followed by several other automakers as they approach the new year.

Skoda Auto, in a statement, makes the decision on the upward trajectory of supply chain costs, input expenses, and operational overheads. The move also aligns with the broader industry trend, where the automakers grapple with economic challenges, prompting adjustments to ensure sustainable operations and continued vehicle production.
Affected Models: Slavia, Kushaq, and Kodiaq
The price hike will be applicable to the ex-showroom prices of the Slavia sedan and Kushaq SUV, both based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, boasting of 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine options, with power outputs that ranges from 113 bhp to 148 bhp. The Kodiaq SUV, featuring a 2.0-litre TSI engine delivering 188 bhp of power, will also be subject to the revised pricing.

Skoda Auto joins a league of prominent automakers, including Volkswagen, Audi, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata Motors, Citroen, and MG Motor India, who all have also announced price hikes in anticipation of the new year. The consistent rise in prices throughout the year reflects the global impact of increasing inflation rates.
Future Outlook: Enyaq Electric SUV and Model Updates
Despite the price adjustment, Skoda Auto has ambitious plans for the Indian market. The company is gearing up to introduce the Enyaq electric SUV in 2024, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mobility. Additionally, Skoda will also keep its existing models competitive by introducing the updates and special editions for the Slavia and Kushaq.
