Skoda Auto, the Czech carmaker, has unveiled a glimpse of the highly anticipated new generation Kodiaq SUV ahead of its global debut. Set to arrive in the Indian market soon, the second-generation Kodiaq will offer an array of powertrain options, including a plug-in hybrid variant, along with captivating design updates and improved interior features. Let's delve into the details of this upcoming SUV.
Plug-In Hybrid and More Skoda aims to revolutionize the new generation Kodiaq SUV with the introduction of plug-in hybrid technology. The SUV will be equipped with a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine paired with an electric motor powered by a 25.7 kWh battery. This dynamic combination delivers a total output of 204 hp, with the petrol engine generating a minimum of 150 hp.
Coupled with a 6-speed DSG gearbox, the Kodiaq's plug-in hybrid powertrain promises an impressive electric range of 100 km. Furthermore, the electric battery supports AC chargers of up to 11 kW and DC fast chargers, boasting charging rates of up to 50 kW.
Additional Powertrain Options and Transmission Apart from the plug-in hybrid variant, Skoda will offer the new Kodiaq three other powertrain choices. An all-wheel drive 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, capable of producing up to 204 hp, will cater to those seeking a spirited driving experience.
The SUV will also feature two diesel engine options—a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine available in two variants, generating either 150 hp or 193 hp, depending on the chosen configuration. All powertrain options will be coupled with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, ensuring smooth and efficient gear shifts.
Striking Design Elements The new Kodiaq will boast notable exterior updates, including sleek full LED Matrix headlights that enhance visibility and add a touch of sophistication. The SUV will confidently roll on a set of 17 to 20-inch wheels, exuding a strong road presence. With a length of 4,758 mm, the new Kodiaq is 61 mm longer than its predecessor, providing improved space for passengers. Notably, the seven-seater variant offers 15 mm more headroom for occupants in the third row.
Technology and Comfort Inside the new Kodiaq, drivers will be greeted by a host of upgraded features. A central touchscreen display measuring 12.9 inches takes centre stage, offering intuitive control over the SUV's functionalities. Complementing the touchscreen is a digital driver display measuring 10.25 inches, providing essential information at a glance.
Additionally, drivers can opt for the Head-Up Display, which further enhances convenience and safety. Notably, Skoda has repositioned the gearshift lever, creating a clutter-free centre console for a refined and modern interior ambience.
Skoda's upcoming new generation Kodiaq SUV promises a remarkable driving experience with its range of powertrain options, including the introduction of plug-in hybrid technology. With captivating design updates, including full LED Matrix headlights and a longer body length, as well as enhanced interior features like a large central touchscreen display, the Kodiaq aims to provide both style and functionality. Stay tuned for the global debut of this eagerly anticipated SUV, as Skoda redefines the standards of power, design, and comfort in the automotive industry.
