Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus receive top 5-star ratings in the Global NCAP crash test for adult and child occupant protection.

Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus gets 5 Star Global Ncap Rating

The Global NCAP crash test results for the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia have been released, and both sedans have achieved a full 5-star rating. These vehicles have scored the highest rating for both Adult and Child Occupant Protection in the Global NCAP crash tests, setting a new benchmark in the C-segment sedan space.

It's worth noting that Skoda and Volkswagen have previously achieved a similar 5-star safety rating in October 2022 for their compact SUV brothers Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.

Skoda and Volkswagen have touted these cars as the safest made-in-India sedans, having achieved 29.71 out of 34 for Adult Occupant Protection and 42 out of 49 marks for Child Occupant Protection. The bodyshell has been rated as stable and is capable of withstanding further loadings. The German automakers have shown an unwavering commitment to safety and continue to set new standards in vehicle safety in India.

The recent 5-star rating of the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia in the Global NCAP crash tests will undoubtedly give existing and potential customers peace of mind when considering these vehicles. The GNCAP results show that the body shell is stable and can withstand further loadings, indicating high safety standards.

During the frontal impact, the driver's and passenger's head and neck were well-protected, while the front passenger's chest showed adequate protection, and knees showed good protection. Side impact revealed that head, chest, and abdomen protection were adequate, while the pelvis showed good protection.

Moreover, the side pole impact test showed that curtain airbags met the fitment requirements, and the test version with side head protection airbags offered good protection to the head, abdomen, and pelvis, and marginal protection to the chest. All of these factors combine to make the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia some of the safest sedans in the market, instilling confidence in drivers and passengers alike.

In addition, both Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia come with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as a standard feature, and their performance in the test met Global NCAP's latest requirements, resulting in a 5-star safety rating for adult occupant protection.

For child protection, the vehicles' seats were found to prevent head exposure during frontal impact, providing full protection for 3-year and 18-month-old children. The Child Restraint Systems (CRS) in both cars offered full side impact protection during the side impact assessment.

In a statement, Piyush Arora, the Managing Director and CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, emphasized the company's commitment to safety, stating that it is part of the company's DNA and will remain a top priority for their current and future product portfolio.

Arora also highlighted the success of their India 2.0 project, as all four vehicles produced on their MQB-A0-IN platform, including the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq SUVs, have received a full 5-star safety rating for both Adult and Child Occupant Protection from Global NCAP.
