Discover Hero MotoCorp's upcoming commuter bike that will rival popular models like TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar NS125, and Honda SP 125.
As Hero MotoCorp, the market leader in the commuter motorcycle segment looks to diversify its portfolio, it is preparing to launch a new commuter bike that will rival popular models such as the TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar NS125, and Honda SP 125.
This move comes as Hero aims to reduce its heavy reliance on the Splendor 100cc bike, which accounted for more than two-thirds of its overall sales in April. Let's explore the details of Hero's upcoming commuter bike and its potential impact on the market.
Recognizing the need for a more diversified product lineup, Hero MotoCorp has been focusing on developing new bikes, including both commuter models and premium offerings in the middleweight segment. Recently, they launched the Xtreme 160R 4V, priced at Rs 1.36 lakh.
Additionally, the upcoming launch of the Karizma XMR and a new maxi scooter underscores Hero's efforts to reduce its dependence on 100cc commuter bikes and explore new avenues.
Based on the test mule spotted, Hero's new commuter bike appears to be a 125cc model, with standard telescopic suspension and a rear drum brake. Sporting a sporty profile, it takes aim at its primary rival, the TVS Raider. Key features include a sharp headlamp, sculpted fuel tank with extensions, compact rear-view mirrors, sleek turn signals, all-LED lighting, a split-seat design, stubby exhaust, and a short tail section with a rear tyre hugger.
The bike is expected to come with a fully digital instrument cluster, possibly similar to other 125cc Hero bikes or the inverted LCD console seen on the Xtreme 160R. Bluetooth connectivity could also be offered to enhance its appeal.
While boasting a sporty profile, Hero's new commuter bike aims to provide a comfortable riding experience. It features a wide, pulled-back handlebar and centrally mounted foot pegs. The scooped profile of the rider seat section ensures a lower seat height and optimal comfort. Although the pillion seat section appears slightly narrow, the presence of thick grab rails should provide adequate stability.
Hero's new commuter bike is expected to utilize the 125cc engine found in its other 125cc models like the Glamour XTEC and Super Splendor XTEC. This air-cooled engine delivers a maximum power output of 10.7 bhp and peak torque of 10.6 Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock unit at the rear. Braking power is provided by a front disc brake and a rear drum brake, while the bike is likely to feature 18-inch wheels at both ends.
Hero MotoCorp's upcoming commuter bike aims to challenge established rivals in the segment by offering a sporty design, comfortable ergonomics, and reliable performance. As Hero continues to diversify its product lineup, this new addition is expected to attract buyers seeking an alternative to the Splendor 100cc bike.
With a potential launch later this year, possibly during the festive season, Hero will likely position the new commuter bike competitively in terms of pricing to appeal to a wide range of customers.
