Suzuki debuts the 5-Door Jimny at IIMS 2024 in Indonesia, featuring a candy red shade and IDR 478 million in price.
Suzuki made a significant debut at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024 by unveiling the highly anticipated 5-door variant of its popular Jimny. The flagship model, presented in a striking candy red shade, is set to become Suzuki's most expensive offering in Indonesia, with the top-spec variant priced at IDR 478 million (Rs. 25.4 lakh).
Comparing the on-road pricing of the 5-Door Suzuki Jimny in Jakarta to the Indian market reveals a notable difference. The top-spec variant is approximately Rs. 7 lakh more expensive for Indonesian buyers, sparking discussions about the pricing strategy.
While the 3-Door Jimny is produced in both Suzuki's Kosai plant in Japan and Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant in India, the 5-Door variant continues to be exclusively manufactured in India. The model, launched in Australia as Jimny XL, is shipped from India and features an upgraded 9-inch infotainment system.
The 5-Door Jimny offers attractive color options, with the base model starting at IDR 443.9 million (Rs. 23.6 lakh). PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor is charging an additional IDR 18 million for the upgrade from the 3-Door to the 5-Door model, which translates to around Rs. 1 lakh.
The Indonesia-spec Jimny comes with both manual and automatic transmission variants. The vehicle maintains its identical appearance to the India-spec model, featuring a K15B 1.5L 4-cylinder NA petrol engine, 5-speed manual or 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission, and a range of noteworthy features including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 6 airbags, parking sensors, and a parking camera.
Suzuki is offering a front grille accessory called "Front Grille (Logo Suzuki)" in Indonesia, potentially transforming Jimny's looks. Priced at IDR 3.75 million (Rs. 20,000), this accessory is expected to add a touch of uniqueness. Additionally, the new Metallic Shiffon Ivory shade has been introduced in Indonesia. As Suzuki faces a decline in Jimny sales in India, exploring new markets becomes a logical step for the company.
