Tata Motors is gearing up for a facelift of the Tata Nexon SUV, the best-selling model of the automaker in the current market.
Tata Nexon facelift has been spotted several times and it is expected to go on sale by August this year. While all the images that have been captured before gave a glimpse of the exterior design, the pictures that have surfaced online give us a peek into the interior of the facelift, for the very first time.
The facelift will get a revised fascia that will be based on the Curvv SUV Coupe Concept from Tata Motors. A dynamic and modern SUV technology, Curvv Concept merges the toughness of an SUV with the elegance of a Coupe and creates a perfect balance between the two.
The bumper and headlights are redesigned in the facelift. The headlamps will sport a split design, a new two-piece grille and tweaked front and rear bumpers. It will have new LED tail lights with sequential turn indicators, roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, and an integrated spoiler. There is a rear wiper hidden behind the latter, which is a design trait that was last seen on the new Tucson. A makeover is being given to the rear of the car and it will have tail lamps like Tata Safari.
The facelift’s cabin design will be inspired by Tata Motors' next-generation cars and will have a larger sunroof.
We can take a peek into the interior of the upcoming SUV through the fresh spy shots of the facelifted Tata Nexon that have surfaced online. Just like the exterior, the interior will also be inspired by the Curvv concept of Tata Motors. The spy images reveal the dual-tone interior of the facelift. The images hint towards a major overhaul of the interior and an upgrade in quality and features. These pictures of the facelift give a clear glimpse of the updated interiors equipped with the latest features. The surfaces are piano black and the seat upholstery is purple in colour. Together they give a premium look to the cabin.
The latest images that have surfaced online after spying, clearly show a redesigned dashboard with a 2-spoke steering wheel, a feature that was first given to the Concept SUV. As expected, Tata’s new 10.25-inch touchscreen will also be offered, and the entire dashboard is likely to be redesigned. The centre console will have a new touch panel.
The most prominent feature that has been captured in the spy images is the new two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel. There are a couple of toggle switches at either end of the steering wheel along with several touch-sensitive haptic buttons, a feature that has been taken directly from the Curvv concept.
This also gives a clear idea that the quality and equipment levels will be upgraded. It will have a new digital instrument cluster like the new Harrier and Safari Red Dark editions
The coolest thing about the two-spoke steering wheel, the one that has been given to the concept, is a seamlessly integrated backlit Tata logo. It is expected that the facelift will be equipped with a similar logo in the steering wheel.
As we know, Tata Safari and Tata Harrier have ADAS safety technology. Tata Motors may offer the same feature in the higher variants of Nexon SUV. If the facelift gets ADAS, Nexon will become the first model in its segment to offer ADAS.
All Tata models, including the Nexon, were recently upgraded to meet BS 6 Phase 2 norms. The petrol version could be replaced by a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine is expected to churn out 125bhp of power and 225 Nm of peak torque which is 5hp and 55Nm more than the current engine. The Nexon facelift will continue with the 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. There is not much clarity on whether the automatic gearbox will be available for the Nexon facelift or not.
The launch of Tata Nexon Facelift is expected in the second half of this year.
It is believed that series production for the Nexon facelift will commence by July 2023. Tata Motors will produce around 15,000 units including the both petrol and diesel models.
Tata will also start the production of The Nexon EV facelift around the same time. It plans to manufacture 5,000 units every month.
The price of the Nexon facelift will be announced in August 2023. The cost of the current models ranges from Rs 7.80 lakh-14.35 lakh, ex-showroom.
Upon launch, it will continue to rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300.
