The facelifted Volvo XC90 just made its way into India after a year passing by on the international market. The XC90 is priced at an introductory cost of ₹1.03 crore, with a new exterior & interior design along with a new 2.0-litre “Miller Engine.”.
The XC90 will be offered in its seven-seater variant and will compete with other rivals such as the BMW X5, Lexus US 350h, the Mercedes Benz GLE, the Land Rover Range Rover Velar, and the Audi Q7.
The XC90’s newest exterior updates include a newly designed grille with diagonal slats. The LED DRLs around the Matrix LED headlamps, which resemble thorns of a hammerhead shark, incorporate minor tweaks, and the front bumper has been modified with added air vents, enhancing aerodynamic efficiency. The XC90 also boasts new alloy wheel options, alongside a new appearance for the all-LED dual-slat C-shaped taillights. The new Volvo addition is currently offered in six colour shades, with the inclusion of a new shade, which is apparently named Mulberry Red.
The cabin of the XC90 features a multithemed, ultra-rich dashboard layout, flaunting an 11.2-inch infotainment display and supporting wireless smartphone mirroring & integrated to new-age connected car technology, which is replacing the 9.0-inch unit. Furthermore, over the top desk of digital instrumentation, an AR-based heads-up display (HUD) has also received an inclusion. The display is vertically stacked between the air conditioning vents placed above the touch-sensitive HVAC panel, also controlling the tri-zone climate control functionality. The XC90’s drive experience has been further enhanced by the addition of Frequency Selective Damping technology, also including improved sound insulation and storage options. As an element of surprise, the larger than life quarter glass panel comes integrated with antenna sensors. Well, not to be mentioned, features such as temperature-controlled all-way electronically adjustable front seats, electrochromic auto-dimming IRVM, a 3D surround-sound system, a 360-degree bird-view camera module, and an electronic Multi-Drive Terrain Response Selector integrated into varied drive modes are also part of the package. Additionally, taking care of creature comfort and driver's convenience, an AI voice-controlled panoramic sunroof and an auto-adjusting electronic steering wheel have also been equipped.
The XC90 is being released with a 2.0-litre “Miller Engine." This B5 unit powers all four wheels of this vehicle with an all-wheel drive, as the power is transmitted via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The powertrain includes a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that churns 246.5 bhp and 360 Nm of maximum torque. While the mild hybrid unit is powered by a 48-volt electric motor.
The XC90 receives a ground clearance of 238 mm with the standard suspension & 267 mm with the air suspension. The height of the car measures 1,773 mm, and the width measures up to 1,931 mm. The SUV is 4,953 mm long and 2,140 mm wide.
