Vietnam's VinFast plans to import VF-e34 and VF5 EVs to India by late 2024. Learn about the company's strategy, pricing, and future plans for local production.
The VinFast VF e34 is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) manufactured by VinFast, a subsidiary of the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup. It was first introduced in 2021 and is notable for being the first electric vehicle to be manufactured and sold in Vietnam. The company plans to import two key EV model the VF-e34, in the latter half of 2024. This move aims to establish VinFast's presence ahead of local production in Tamil Nadu, expected to commence in 2025.
The VF e34 features a sophisticated and user-friendly design with a focus on aerodynamics and aesthetics. The design language, known as "Dynamic Balance," enhances the vehicle's agility and visibility.
The VF e34 has a wheelbase of 2,611 mm, a length of 4,300 mm, a width of 1,793 mm, and a height of 1,613 mm. It has a curb weight of 1,490 kg. The vehicle is equipped with large 18-inch alloy wheels and a minimalist design that optimises interior space and quality.
The VF e34 offers a spacious and comfortable interior with ample legroom, headroom, and shoulder room for all passengers. The interior includes a 10-inch central information touchscreen that provides access to various functions and settings. It also features a smart mobile app (C-App) with up to 18 different features, including climate control, vehicle location, and charging management.
The VF e34 is powered by a 110 kW (148 hp) electric motor that delivers 242 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 44.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing a claimed range of 300 km (186 miles) under ideal conditions and 285 km (177 miles) according to the NEDC standard. The vehicle supports 250 kW DC fast charging and 7.4 kW AC charging, allowing for flexible and convenient charging options.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS): The VF e34 is equipped with a range of ADAS features, including lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree surveillance system.
The VF e34 has received high safety ratings, including a score of 78.99 from ASEAN NCAP, with strong performance in adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, and safety assist categories.
The VF e34 offers a range of infotainment options, including multimedia entertainment, navigation, and a virtual assistant that supports natural interaction in multiple languages. The vehicle includes features such as automatic diagnosis, service booking, service reminders, and battery management.
The VF e34 competes with other electric SUVs in the market, such as the Hyundai Kona Electric, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV.
The VF e34 is currently available in Vietnam and Indonesia, with plans to expand to other markets.
The vehicle is competitively priced to attract a wide range of customers looking for an affordable and efficient electric SUV.
