Tata Motor’s Punch emerged as the best-selling car for June 2024. Tata dispatched 18,238 units of the Punch, surpassing May's best-seller, the Maruti Suzuki Swift, by a significant margin. This marks a notable achievement for Tata as they lead the market with a compact SUV.
Despite being surpassed, the Maruti Suzuki Swift continued to perform well, securing the second spot with 16,448 units sold. The Swift remains a popular choice among hatchback enthusiasts.
The Hyundai Creta retained its position as India's best-selling mid-SUV, with 16,293 units sold. It also ranked third overall among all car models sold in June 2024.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga saw impressive sales, with 15,902 units sold, making it the fourth highest-selling car of the month. The Ertiga's popularity is partly due to increasing taxi demand.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno continued its strong performance with 14,895 units sold, securing fifth place. The hatchback remains a favorite for urban drivers.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R experienced a decline in sales, dropping by 21% compared to June 2023. Despite this, it still managed to sell 13,790 units, placing it in sixth position.
The Maruti Suzuki DZIRE sedan saw a significant increase in sales, with 13,421 units sold, marking a 44% year-on-year growth. It ranked seventh among the top-selling cars.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza sold 13,172 units, securing the eighth position. The compact SUV remains a strong applicant in its segment.
The Mahindra Scorpio continued its strong performance with 12,307 units sold, making it the ninth best-selling car in June 2024. It remains Mahindra's best-selling model.
The Tata Nexon rounded out the top ten with 12,066 units sold. Despite tough competition, the Nexon remains a popular choice among the compact SUV buyers.
The June 2024 sales figures highlight the dynamic nature of the Indian automotive market. With Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki leading the pack, it's clear that Indian consumers have a growing preference for compact SUVs and reliable hatchbacks. The consistent performance of models like the Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio also underscores the demand for versatile and robust vehicles. As the year progresses, seeing how these trends evolve and which models continue to captivate the market will be interesting.
